Olomouc - The residents of Olomouc will again have the opportunity this year to express their opinions on the draft of the new zoning plan, which will determine the main parameters of the city's development for the coming years. The city hall received nearly seven hundred objections and comments regarding the original proposal, meaning that the upcoming zoning plan will undergo significant changes. This was stated today by the Mayor of Olomouc, Martin Novotný (ODS). People submitted 650 objections and comments regarding the zoning plan proposal to the city hall. The submissions most commonly concerned the reconstruction of the intersection between Pražská and Erenburgova streets and the connection between Hynaisova and Dolní Hejčínská streets, which local residents feel will increase traffic in that part of the city. The environmental organization Hnutí Duha submitted 12 objections, related to the plan for a parking garage at the ZOO in Svatý Kopeček and the appropriation of agricultural land near Hněvotín. According to Novotný, it is already clear that accommodating certain objections will result in such modifications to the zoning plan that a repeated public discussion will be necessary. "We expect that this will take place sometime in October or November of this year," added Radek Dosoudil, head of the concept and development department of the city hall. As the designated representative, Novotný, along with the employees of the concept and development department, is responsible for the comments and objections regarding the zoning plan. "During public meetings and discussions, I have offered citizens to discuss their objections with them personally. Some took advantage of this, and I was able to get closer acquainted with their problems," stated the mayor. He met with people who submitted objections regarding, for example, the future of the fort area at Šibeník, the operation of Kovošrot in Hodolany, and the use of the locality near Okružní Street. When the city hall created the concept of the new zoning plan for Olomouc in 2010, it received approximately 900 objections and comments. The city leadership then completely accommodated 24 percent of these, while an additional 49 percent were partially accepted. The remaining objections were rejected by the council. The current zoning plan for Olomouc has been under development since 1994, and it came into effect four years later. The city is compelled by legislation to create a new zoning plan; however, the city hall needs it regardless. According to the city leadership, the current plan reflects the reality of the mid-1990s, not the current state.
