The new zoning plan for Olomouc will be developed by Knesl + Kynčl

Olomouc - The Olomouc city hall will pay approximately 11 million crowns for the preparation of a new zoning plan for the regional city. The strategic document, which determines where residential buildings or industrial enterprises can grow, will be commissioned to the Brno company Knesl + Kynčl based on the results of the tender. The new zoning plan should be completed by 2011, said Mayor Martin Novotný (ODS) to journalists today.
    According to him, five interested parties applied for the contractor competition for the zoning plan. In addition to price, the city leadership also considered the form of processing and visions for the development of the city's area when evaluating the offers. "The architectural studio Knesl + Kynčl coincidentally offered the lowest price. However, it cannot be said that price was the only deciding criterion. Their vision and experience certainly convinced us as well," stated the mayor. He added that the city originally expected that the preparation of the zoning plan would cost more than 17 million crowns.
    The city is compelled to create a new zoning plan by legislation. However, according to Novotný, the motivation of the city hall is stronger. The current plan, according to him, reflects the reality of the mid-1990s. "We need a new plan that will reflect contemporary trends in terms of development intentions," the mayor said earlier to ČTK. According to him, the dozens of changes that the city council approves every year testify that the current zoning plan is outdated. The city hall's goal is for the new plan to be simpler, clearer, and more understandable than the current one.
    The existing zoning plan began to be created in 1994. It came into force four years later.
