Svinaře - The renovation of the historic Svinaře Castle in the Beroun area will be completed next year. The reconstruction of the Baroque building will cost hundreds of millions of crowns. Currently, the restoration of the old Gothic granary is taking place, and in the autumn, the restoration of the castle garden will begin, said Jiří Nosek, the owner of Svinaře Castle, to ČTK today. "We plan to organize various events and exhibitions for the public at the castle," he added.

The castle, which was purchased as a devastated building in 2003, was selected for the Central Bohemian Region's architectural heritage conservation program. As a result, Nosek receives an annual subsidy of hundreds of thousands of crowns from the region and one million crowns in grants from the Ministry of Culture for the renovation of the building. The rest of the repairs are funded from his own resources.
This year, the third year of the Svinaře Blacksmithing event took place at the castle, a gathering of blacksmiths and horseshoers from all over the Czech Republic. For the first time after the archways' restoration, visitors and participants were able to see some of the castle's interior spaces. Otherwise, the castle remains closed to the public due to the reconstruction.
A fort from the 14th century once stood on the site of Svinaře Castle. The fort served its owners until the beginning of the 16th century, when it fell out of use. In 1766, Antonín Maschek from Maasburg had the castle and a large garden with a park built here. From 1940, the castle was owned by the state police, and ten years later it was transferred to the Cement Plant in Beroun. Despite significant dilapidation, it was designated as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic in 1965 and was transferred to a private company in 1990. The devastated castle was purchased by Jiří Nosek from Svinaře in 2003.
The Nosek family came to Svinaře during the Thirty Years' War around 1635. The first of the Nosek lineage to work here was Tomáš Nosek from Svinaře, who was also the local mayor of his time. Subsequently, 11 generations of the Nosek family farmed the lands and their estate in Svinaře, where today the family strawberry farm is located.
