Ostrava - Ostrava wants to seek an investor for a new city landmark at the real estate and investment opportunities fair MIPIM in Cannes next week. CTK was informed today by city hall spokesperson Andrea Vojkovská. Among the city plots that will be presented to investors is a parcel in front of the Forum Nová Karolina shopping and entertainment center in the city center. The city had previously announced that it would like a dominant high-rise building on the site, such as a hotel.

The intention to sell the land at the exit from the Frýdlantské bridges, which measures approximately 8,300 square meters, was approved by the council last autumn, and they would like to receive at least 37 million crowns for it. At that time, the city specified in the conditions that the design of the building must result from an architectural competition.

The city administration has previously stated that it wants to make better use of the gaps in the city and offer them to private investors. Therefore, it wants to present, for example, the gap near Smetanova Square at the fair. In addition to this, it will also present residential projects such as Nové Lauby in the city center, a new apartment building at the intersection of Kostelní and Biskupské streets, or an apartment building on Janáčková Street.

"On behalf of Ostrava, we will offer vacant spaces for residential housing, offices, or spaces suitable for hotel construction in the city center. This way, we are investing in the future of Ostrava, which has the ambition to become a metropolis with everything that it entails," said Mayor Tomáš Macura (ANO).

Ostrava is presenting itself at the fair for the twenty-second time, and will have a booth with the Moravian-Silesian Region, Prague, and Brno. The Moravian-Silesian Region has already indicated that it will try to attract investors to projects such as the construction of a residential complex in Nový Jičín or a planned resort at Slezská Harta in the Bruntál region.

The MIPIM fair attracts over 26,000 participants each year from among investors, developers, cities and regions, banks, construction companies, real estate agents, and architects.
