Petition against the construction of the shopping center Galerie Stromovka

My, the undersigned citizens and friends of Prague 7, hereby express our disagreement with the planned construction of the shopping center Galerie Stromovka and demand the immediate cessation of the entire project,

The planned building is inappropriate for the Letná environment both due to its oversized volume and problematic architectural solution, which is undignified for this exceptional location, as well as the immediate impacts that its construction would have on Letná.
The establishment of a large shopping center in the heart of the residential Letná district would lead to a significant increase in traffic density in areas that are already on the brink of traffic collapse. The construction of a hypermarket would also inevitably destroy the existing network of small shops, which greatly contributes to the quality of life in Letná.

For these reasons, we fundamentally oppose the construction of the "Galerie Stromovka" project and urge the City District of Prague 7 to initiate the cancellation of the problematic lease of the relevant land and to promptly start a public discussion on the appropriate use of the land, from which regulations and the content for a public architectural competition should arise.
We believe that this unique space should serve the needs of the residents of Letná and not for superficial commercial purposes!
