<Písek> selected an investor for the construction of a new district in the area of the former Žižkov barracks

Písek – Písek has chosen an investor who will construct a new district, Pražská brána, for over 900 residents in part of the former Žižkov barracks. BAK construction company will pay the city 37.5 million crowns excluding tax for the land on which it will build. The total investment will exceed one billion crowns, with the apartments expected to be completed by 2036. This information was provided to journalists by Petra Měšťanová, spokesperson for the Písek city hall.

"In several phases, several hundred apartments should be built in seven residential buildings. The developer is primarily counting on residential units of sizes 2+kk and 3+kk. Around 940 people could find a home here," said Mayor Michal Čapek (ANO). The city has land in the area for a kindergarten and an apartment building.

According to Čapek, the city is selling the land under pre-defined and strict conditions. "These were set to include legal defense mechanisms for the city and to eliminate potential risks, such as speculative purchases of land or delaying construction. The entire model is designed to be reversible, to avoid a situation like years ago when a buyer failed to fulfill their obligations and the city had to resort to legal action to reclaim the land," the mayor said.

The city has already constructed transportation access to the area. The investor will then connect the land to utilities at their own cost, build infrastructure, and construct residential buildings. They must comply with the conditions of the urban study regarding land arrangement, the appearance of public spaces, the capacity for residential construction, and transportation.
