Plzeň – Plzeň will strengthen the budget for the rescue of the cultural house Peklo. The reconstruction will begin with the restoration of the monument-protected part of the building, which includes the community hall. To the originally allocated amount of 738 million crowns for this phase of construction, the representatives added another 100 million, said Mayor Roman Zarzycký (ANO) to ČTK. Plzeň aims to start the long-prepared reconstruction of the cultural house this year, which has been closed for several years due to the emergency condition, specifically in the area of the community hall.

The complex of the workers' house Peklo consists of three connected structures – the neo-Renaissance western part with a hall for more than 700 people from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the functionalist connecting part from the 1930s, and on the eastern side, the so-called Fischer villa from 1886.

For the first part of the reconstruction, the city has already announced a competition for the contractor. Work should begin with construction modifications to the large hall, dressing rooms, staircases, and the entrance hall. "The budget increase is necessary due to the rising prices of construction materials, the amount of demanding work required from the contractor, the designer, and other involved parties. The building is a registered cultural monument, so restoration work will require not only great sensitivity during execution but especially maximum expertise," stated the mayor. During the repairs, the company will also have to use traditional historical methods. The public contract also includes additional architectural-historical and site restoration research.

Part of the funds from the increased budget is also allocated for the work of the designer, who must resolve the connection with the second phase of the rescue of Peklo. This phase will build upon the renovation of the part with the hall and is to complete the central part of the complex according to the results of the architectural competition.

The neo-Renaissance building with the cultural hall and the Fischer villa will be subtly connected by a new structure, which will serve as the base for the Plzeň Philharmonic. There will also be a smaller concert hall for about 300 people, rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms, storage, and a small restaurant. The golden cladding of the central new building will remind that Peklo is primarily meant for music – it is intended to resemble a brass instrument. The preliminary costs for the realization of the central part, which includes modifications of the outdoor space, were estimated at least half a billion.
