Prague – Today, the construction of the new kindergarten (MŠ) Mydlinky in Prague 12 began with the laying of the foundation stone. The building, which is intended to have low energy consumption, is being constructed by the companies Geosan Group and NEPRO stavební. The first preschoolers are expected to be able to use the new facility starting in September 2023, as stated today by city spokesperson Petr Kocián. Prague 12 will pay about 129 million crowns for the construction of MŠ Mydlinky for 112 children according to the contract. The new construction is this year's largest investment project in the twelfth district.
"On the banks of the Vltava River, in the location of a brownfield from a former sugar factory, a new district is emerging that will offer over 700 apartments for new residents. For this reason, it is essential for us to establish another kindergarten in this area," said the mayor of the district, Jan Adamec.
The new kindergarten will be built on land covering 3,380 m² between the streets K Beránku, Dolnocholupická, and Lešetínská. According to a previous statement by the councilor for education, Petr Prchal, the kindergarten will be located in an area where there is currently no kindergarten.
In the two-story building of the kindergarten, designed by the architectural office Loxia, there will be four classrooms, a dining room, an indoor playroom, and facilities. Several outdoor playgrounds will also be created, featuring elements made from natural materials. The building is designed in the so-called passive standard with a green roof. According to the chief architect of the LOXIA studio, Jana Mastíková, insulation with soil, heat recovery, and controlled ventilation through recuperation will be utilized, among other things.
The plan for the construction of MŠ Mydlinky was approved by the district council in 2019. According to the city hall, the reason for establishing the new kindergarten is the demographic development in the district and residential construction in the Čežov neighborhood. In the immediate vicinity of the new kindergarten, new streets Rorýsova and Zlochova have emerged in recent years, where buildings with approximately 570 apartments have been built. Additional apartments are currently under construction.
Opposition councilors Zdeněk Boublík and Lenka Vedralová had previously labeled the new four-classroom kindergarten, costing around 100 million crowns, as "overpriced." At that time, she suggested that the new kindergarten in the Čežov neighborhood be built as a container house.
