Prague – The Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA) published 31 works selected by the international jury from 241 registered buildings at the nomination evening of the 8th edition of the Czech Architecture Award in the House of Joy in Prague. Among the authors of the nominated buildings are established studios as well as creators less known to the public. This year, last year's winner Atelier 111 architects is nominated again with the outdoor restaurant project. Two buildings among the nominees, the Klobouky Forest Headquarters and the Montessori Kindergarten, are from the studio Mjölk architects. The list of nominated buildings can be found at the website of the Czech Architecture Award. The name of the main prize winner and other finalists will be announced to the public in November at a gala evening in Forum Karlín.

The seven-member expert jury selected projects that demonstrate high aesthetic and technical qualities while appropriately communicating with their surroundings and providing social benefits. "It will be possible to learn about the nominated works at many exhibitions of the Czech Architecture Award. From June 29 in Velké Meziříčí, from June 30 in Karlovy Vary, from July 1 in the Museum of Construction Heritage in Plasy, from July 3 in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, and from July 8 in Slavonice. From July 20, the Vyšehrad will host an exhibition of the nominated projects, and by the end of summer, the Valdštejn Gardens in Prague," the organizers announced.

Four projects originated from an architectural competition with confirmed validity from the ČKA. They include the Town Hall of Lázně Bělohrad and the renovation of the K.V. Raise Square, the reconstruction of the historic building of the former abattoir for the purposes of the Plato Gallery in Ostrava, a public space between the schools in Červený Kostelec, and the gardens with a cemetery in Prague-Suchdol.

As in previous years, the majority of nominated buildings, eight in total, are located in Prague. The South Moravian and Moravian-Silesian Regions both have four representatives, while the Hradec Králové and Pardubice Regions have three each. The South Bohemian Region has two projects. One building has made it from the Liberec, Central Bohemian, and Plzeň Regions, as well as from Vysočina.

Today, the authors of the Memorial of the Three Resistance Movements in Lošany from the IXA studio received the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Miloš Vystrčil's Award for this project. The memorial was created on the grounds of the Mašín family farm in Lošany in the Kolín region. Its purpose is to preserve the memory and legacy of Major General Josef Mašín and his family. "I decided to award the Chairman of the Senate's Prize to the Memorial of the Three Resistance Movements because I was struck not only by its architecture but also by its significant historical role. It dignifiably commemorates the victims of whom our ancestors were capable and leaves room for visitors to reflect," Vystrčil justified his choice.

As part of the Czech Architecture Award, its academy honors exceptional activities in the field of architecture. This year, the award went to the CBArchitektura association. It is an informal grouping of architects in České Budějovice with the goal of positively influencing the current appearance of the city and region. The honor from the Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA) for 2022 was awarded to architect Petr Hlaváček, Deputy Mayor of Prague for Territorial and Strategic Development from the STAN movement.
