Prague - This year, 145 architectural projects are competing for the Czech Architecture Award, submitted by their creators for the third year of the competition. The winner will be decided in the coming months by a seven-member international jury, chaired by German architect Roger Riewe, who also engages in urban planning. The main prize winner will be announced by the organizing Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA) in November. Today, the chamber's spokesperson Tereza Zemanová informed ČTK.

In addition to the chairperson, the jury includes Austrian architect Carlo Baumschlager, Hungarian architect Zsolt Gunther, Slovak architect Andrea Klimko, Polish architect Robert Konieczny, landscape architect and urban planner Yael Moria Klain from Israel, and architect Ivan Reimann of Czech origin working in Germany. Together, they will select around 50 works from the submitted entries by the end of May, which will be presented at the nomination evening.

Subsequently, the jury will select five to ten finalist works and from them choose the recipient of the main prize. There will also be awards for exceptional achievements. Last year, among others, four post-revolution mayors of Litomyšl received them. The main prize of last year's edition was awarded to architects Radek Květ and Pavel Pijáček, who won with the Archeopark Pavlov, a museum built directly at the site of the archaeological findings.

In comparison to previous years, the number of submitted works has decreased this year. The first year received approximately 500 applications, while the second had 249 applications. The high interest from architects in the first year was likely sparked by the novelty of the competition.

This year's submitted works can be viewed on the website www.ceskacenazaarchitekturu.cz.
