Prague - Prague is preparing projects for 13 new tram lines worth billions of crowns. The closest to construction is primarily the extension of the line from Divoká Šárka to the Dědina housing estate and the extension of the line from Barrandov to Holyně and Slivenec. This follows from the material discussed today at the joint meeting of the transport and urban development committees.

According to Marek Zděradiček from the Development Department of the Capital City of Prague (ÚRM), the proposed 13 tram lines are on the list of investment priorities for the city in the coming years. Prague would like to obtain funds from European grants for some of them. According to Deputy Mayor Josef Nosek (ODS), the city cannot afford investments in the order of billions of crowns in the coming years.
The city is presumably the furthest along with preparations for the line from the Divoká Šárka loop to the Dědina housing estate. The line would run along Evropská street, further along Vlastina street, along Drnovská until it intersects with Dědinská street. The length of the line is 2.1 km, there would be five pairs of stops, and it would require an investment of approximately 875 million crowns. According to Zděradiček, it would improve access to the Dědina housing estate and reduce bus traffic. If the city had the money, construction could begin as early as 2013 or 2014.
An extension of the line from the Barrandov housing estate to Holyně and Slivenec is also prepared. The line would be 1.5 kilometers long and would have three pairs of stops. The construction costs are estimated at 410 million crowns.
In addition, among the city's priorities for the construction of new tram lines are, for example, a line at Wenceslas Square, in Bohnice, in Jižní Město, the relocation of the loop closer to the Depo Hostivař metro station, the extension of the line from Modřany to Libuš, or the construction of the Dvorecký Bridge over the Vltava, which would connect Zlíchov and Dvorce.
