Prague - To prepare the so-called metropolitan land use plan, the Prague City Hall will hire 17 new officials in the Department of Land Use Planning. The number of employees in this department will almost double. The preparation of the metropolitan land use plan, which aims to be simpler and reduce opportunities for corruption, was initiated by Prague this spring. The groundbreaking change in land use planning proposed by TOP 09 almost caused a rift in the coalition.
Currently, there are 20 officials working in the City Hall's Department of Land Use Planning, who are responsible for, among other things, changes to the current land use and the preparation of a new land use plan. They also issue expert opinions, discuss proposals with affected authorities and the public.
According to the City Hall's press department, part of this activity has been provided for the department by the Development Department of the City of Prague (ÚRM), which is a contribution organization of Prague. This is set to change now. "By expanding the Department of Land Use Planning with these employees, there will be a significant reduction in the time taken to process files. There will be no more constant forwarding of individual files to ÚRM and back," the press department of the Prague City Hall wrote to ČTK. "The creation of the metropolitan land use plan and partial land use plans for development and redevelopment areas also requires an increase in the number of employees," the City Hall added.
According to earlier information, the number of employees in ÚRM should also be reduced by 17 people at the same time. The increase in the number of employees was approved by the city leadership already as part of the May reorganization of the City Hall. At that time, the city stated that the funds for the new officials would be transferred from the ÚRM budget.
