Prague - Preparations for the new metro line have already cost over 740 million crowns, with almost two-thirds billed to the transport company (DPP) by Metroprojekt. 20 million was spent on land purchases. This arises from the presentation by DPP on the current metro preparations at the meeting of the city council's transport committee. The metro line D is planned to run from Pankrác to Písnice, with preliminary costs estimated at 51.4 billion crowns.
The construction designer Metroprojekt has already invoiced the transport company 483.2 million crowns for costs related to issuing the zoning decision, EIA assessment, and preparation of the building permit. An additional 132.9 million was paid by DPP to Engineering for Transport Construction. The preparation of the study cost 51 million and legal and consulting services 54 million.
The metro line affects 718 plots of land, of which 301 are privately owned. A total of 142 need to be purchased, for which 20 million crowns have been spent so far. Due to stalled purchases, particularly around Thomayerova Hospital and in Písnice, the city council suspended construction proceedings for the first stage from Pankrác to Depo Písnice for 18 months this August. If the city cannot reach an agreement with the landowners, it plans to start expropriating them next year.
Metro D is intended to relieve line C and connect residential areas in the south of Prague with the city center. The route runs near the Krč train station and Thomayerova Hospital to Písnice. In the second stage, the metro will connect with line A through the stations Náměstí Bratří Synků and the new transfer station Náměstí Míru. The operation will utilize driverless trains. It is still unclear how the new ten-kilometer metro line will be financed. The city could only utilize European funds if it completes the construction by 2022.
The line is planned to have ten stations: five underground, four drilled, and one surface. The city will announce public art competitions for their designs. For the stations Náměstí Bratří Synků and Náměstí Míru, for which there is currently no issued zoning decision, architectural competitions will be held.
