Znojmo - The leadership of Znojmo is expected to have a developed project documentation for the construction of a covered swimming pool by the end of the year, located near the summer swimming area in Louka. They will pay three and a quarter million crowns for the documentation, which will be prepared by the Brno-based architectural office Burian - Křivinka, which also created the architectural study. When the pool will be built, however, depends on further decisions from the political representation that will emerge from the current elections, said Zuzana Pastrňáková, spokesperson for the Znojmo city hall.
An area planning decision has already been issued for the pool's construction. "The project documentation is to specify more precisely what equipment the pool will have. That is, how many lanes it will have, what its wellness section will look like, and what other equipment is necessary for a quality and modern swimming pool," Pastrňáková stated. She added that after the documentation is completed, the city will apply for a building permit, which could be issued in June of next year.
Discussions about a new pool in Znojmo have been ongoing for about five years. At that time, it was debated whether it would be better to build a new pool or renovate the current one, referred to as the spa. Later, intense debates were held on whether to have a six-lane pool or an eight-lane pool, so that national and international competitions could be held there.
According to the number of lanes, the costs were estimated two years ago at 210 million and 232 million crowns, respectively. The eight-lane pool was also recommended by the expert commission at that time. Znojmo has a successful swimming club that has produced several Olympians and successful participants in international championships.
