Česká Třebová - The town hall in Česká Třebová is preparing extensive repairs to the swimming pool, which will cost approximately 200 million crowns. The operating costs of the facility are already high. The city commissioned a study of the future shape of the pool, which incorporated the results of a survey conducted among pool visitors. The overall appearance will not fundamentally change, said Mayor Zdeněk Řehák (3PK - For Prosperous ČT).
"The changes will not be significant; it mainly concerns supplementing the operation of the facility. Nowadays, swimming pools are moving more towards wellness; we want to have more attractive features for children and the public who don't specifically engage in sports and are more inclined to relax,” stated Řehák.
Recently, the city replaced the boiler technology and added a cogeneration unit. The costs are being covered by savings. However, the pool's technology, which is underdimensioned, needs to be replaced, steam rooms need to be reconstructed, and the building needs repair.
The next step for the town hall will be to develop project documentation. The city estimates that costs will reach around 200 million crowns. Currently, Česká Třebová is building a municipal library and preparing an expensive construction of another pavilion for a senior citizens' home. Therefore, it is unlikely that the city will undertake the pool repairs without a grant. However, there is no rush, as the facility is not in a state of emergency and its closure is not imminent.
The building underwent reconstruction in 2000, and later the main pool's tiles were replaced with a stainless-steel basin. Six lanes are 25 meters long. The pool is owned and operated by the municipal company Eko Bi.
