The Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague is organizing a conference titled CURRENT STAIRS 2018: ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION on October 25, 2018. The aim of the conference is to provide a comprehensive comparison of contemporary approaches to the design and processing of stairs as a significant architectural detail.
In a broader context, the conference is part of the ongoing mapping of contemporary architecture within doctoral research at the Department of Architecture I and related research at other faculties and universities. The research outputs will be confronted with examples from the practice of leading architects and stair manufacturers.
The conference loosely follows last year's edition of the expert conference modern stairs 2017, held on October 12, 2017, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Brno University of Technology, where contributions were presented by architects Roman Koucký, Jan Jakub Tesař, Ivan Wahla, Jan Šépka, Robert Wurm & Meinrad Velten, and Martin Rajniš.

A conference proceedings will be published. Authors will strive for the inclusion of the proceedings in the Web of Science, with which they have experience.
