Litoměřice - The building of the old town hall in Litoměřice, which is a national cultural monument and houses the Regional Museum, is set for extensive modernization. The city has obtained 43 million CZK from the Integrated Regional Operational Programme (IROP) for the implementation of a project valued at 48 million CZK. This was stated in a press release today by Iveta Hejduková on behalf of the city.
"The complete reconstruction, adhering to the strict conditions set by heritage protectors regarding the uniqueness of the building, will involve the museum's interior, the facade, and the roof of the building," said Andrea Křížová, head of the Department of Education, Culture, Sports, and Heritage Care of the municipal office, regarding the project. In the space that previously housed a clothing boutique, a visitor center will be created with a reception area, a shop, a cloakroom, and complete facilities. "An elevator is also planned from the courtyard area to ensure barrier-free access for visitors with disabilities," Křížová added.
The owner of the building is the city, and the founder of the Regional Museum located there is the Ústí nad Labem Region. "They have committed to modernizing and enhancing the exhibition using innovative and educational elements to make it more attractive for visitors," Hejduková said. Construction is expected to begin in the second half of next year, and the museum will be closed for two years due to the renovations, Křížová added.
