Chrudim - Construction workers today began demolishing the old football stand with a metal structure at the Municipal Stadium on Novoměstská Street in Chrudim. A new stand for 500 spectators will be built in its place. It will include facilities for players and the public.
The actual construction is expected to start in September. The city is currently looking for a company to build the new stand through a tender process. It will consist of a concrete monolith, and the roof structure will be made of wooden glued trusses. The project will also include two changing rooms, public restrooms, and ticket offices. The reconstruction will also affect the sidewalk and public lighting, with parking spaces created along the road, an extension of the sewer line, and landscape improvements.
The costs are estimated at 21 million crowns, but according to Mayor Petr Řezníček, the price should be significantly lower thanks to the competition. This year, Chrudim plans to invest about eight million crowns, and the construction should be completed next year.
The sports complex was taken over by Chrudim in 2004. Before that, it belonged to a local sports club that went bankrupt.
