Králíky

Králíky – The Office for State Representation in Property Affairs (ÚZSVM) has set another date for the auction of the former children's educational institution premises in Králíky. It will take place on February 3 at 10:00 in the meeting room of the building at Smetanova 43 in Ústí nad Orlicí, as reported by ČTK on the ÚZSVM website. This will be the third auction, and no bids were submitted in the previous rounds.

Initially, the state offered the premises for 35.6 million crowns. In the second round, the starting price was reduced to 28.5 million crowns, and in the third, it is set at 24.92 million crowns.

The premises consist of four buildings with built-up parcels and four additional plots of land. The main building is three stories high and partially underground. The 1883 building has two wings, which include classrooms, rooms, staff rooms, offices, a gym, a workshop, a laundry, a kitchen with a dining area, five apartments, offices, and storage spaces. A workshop with a garage, a greenhouse, and a well will also be sold. The estimated value of all properties in the premises is 33.6 million crowns, while the usual price is 21 million crowns.

The extensive area, covering 39,252 m², has been abandoned since the end of 2014. The Ministry of the Interior originally intended to use it as a residence for asylum seekers. A part of the city's residents and some politicians opposed this plan. They feared that the presence of foreigners would harm tourism in the region, that immigrants would not integrate with the locals, and that they might not feel comfortable in a small town. Eventually, the ministry backed away from the plan and transferred the property to the Ministry of Justice, which proposed to establish a prison in Králíky. This proposal also did not receive a favorable reception; residents indicated in a referendum at the end of 2016 that they did not want a prison. Although the vote was not binding for the ministry, last summer it abandoned the plan.

The city of Králíky has also tried to acquire the premises. It wanted to use the extensive main building for residential and social purposes. It requested a free transfer from the ÚZSVM, but the office did not agree. In the past, the company Sněžník, which owns a large year-round recreational facility in nearby Dolní Morava, also expressed interest in the premises.
