Králíky – The Office for Property Representation of the State (ÚZSVM) announced a repeated auction of the premises of the former children's correctional facility in Králíky. The starting price was reduced from the original 35.6 million crowns to 28.5 million crowns, as reported by ČTK on the office's website. No one attended the first auction, and the next round will take place on November 4 at 10:00 in the conference room of the ÚZSVM building in Ústí nad Orlicí.

The area consists of four buildings with built-up plots and four additional land parcels. The main building is three stories high and partially has a basement. The building, constructed in 1883, includes classrooms, rooms, staff rooms, offices, a gymnasium, a workshop, a laundry, a kitchen with a dining room, five apartments, offices, and storage spaces. A workshop with a garage, a greenhouse, and a well will also be sold.

The estimated price of all the properties in the area is 33.6 million crowns, with a usual price of 21 million crowns. The auction guarantee was set at one million crowns.

The extensive area of 39,252 square meters has been abandoned since the end of 2014. The Ministry of the Interior originally intended to use it as a residential facility for asylum seekers. Some residents of the town and certain politicians opposed this. They were concerned that the presence of foreigners would harm tourism in the region, that immigrants would not integrate into the local community, and that they might not feel comfortable in a small town. Eventually, the Ministry abandoned the plan and transferred the property to the Ministry of Justice, which proposed establishing a prison in Králíky. This plan also did not meet with a favorable reception, as the majority of people expressed in a referendum at the end of 2016 that they did not want a prison. Although the vote was not binding for the ministry, last summer, it withdrew from the intention.

The city of Králíky also tried to acquire the premises. It wanted to use the extensive main building for housing and social purposes. The city requested a free transfer from the ÚZSVM, but the office did not comply. The company Sněžník, which owns a large year-round recreation resort in nearby Dolní Morava, also expressed interest in the area in the past.
