Náchod – The more than billion-crown construction of the regional Hospital Náchod is expected to be completed as planned. The two new pavilions are scheduled to be finished by July 30. Recent concerns that the construction would be delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic and a lack of foreign workers have not materialized. Sylvie Adamcová, the spokesperson for the regional authority, reported this to ČTK. The construction, costing 1.34 billion crowns excluding VAT, began in April 2018 and is the largest current investment project in the region.

"Construction work is in line with the current schedule. We currently do not have any requests from the contractor for changes in the timeline due to the covid-19 pandemic," the spokesperson stated.

Builders are currently finishing work in the pavilions, completing installations, and testing the building's technologies. As part of the preparation for the occupancy permit, checks are being carried out by firefighters, hygienists, and the labor safety inspectorate. "Additionally, deliveries of medical equipment, IT technologies, and interior furnishings are being procured separately by the region," the spokesperson added. The outfitting of the pavilions is expected to cost the region an additional 300 million crowns.

Following the completion of construction work by July 30, the building is expected to receive occupancy approval in August. The subsequent trial operation of the pavilions is anticipated to last five to six months. The start of hospital operations in the new premises, which will already be equipped with interior furnishings, furniture, and medical technology, is planned for the beginning of 2021.

The project's goal is to consolidate all hospital services into the so-called lower area, where the construction is currently taking place. The outcome is expected to be lower operating costs and improved patient care. The new Pavilion J will have inpatient facilities for surgery, orthopedics, and gynecological outpatient services, while Pavilion K will include departments for imaging methods, operating rooms, ARO, JIP, maternity ward, and children's department.

A connection between the new pavilions and the original Pavilion A will be ensured by both an above-ground and an underground corridor, including direct access to the heliport, which will be located on the roof of Pavilion A.

The construction is being carried out by the consortium of companies Geosan Group and BAK construction company. The construction is taking place during the operation of the existing hospital pavilions.

The planning of the hospital construction by the region has been ongoing for years. According to initial plans, it was supposed to be completed in 2015. However, the region was only able to select the construction company after the fourth tender.

Náchod Hospital provides healthcare for a catchment area of more than 200,000 residents, and in specialized fields, it serves up to 250,000 people. It is the largest healthcare facility belonging to the Hradec Králové Region, employing 1,500 staff members.
