Pardubice - The LTC Tennis Club in Pardubice, which has sports facilities in the historic center of the city, wants to build a new administrative building for 30 million crowns. They would like to complete it in four years, in time for the centenary of the Pardubice Junior, a traditional championship for older youth. Petr Beneš, the club's chairman, told ČTK.
The old building is already inadequate. It was built decades ago from modular containers. The three-story structure consists of 28 parts. There is a buffet, garage, and space for a caretaker on the ground floor. Upstairs, there is a massage room, offices, and a terrace. According to the club representatives, the building is nearing the end of its useful life.
The club has a design ready from Pardubice architects Ondřej Teplý and Veronika Malečková. It features two above-ground floors and, for example, half-rounded windows to fit into the historic part of the city. The building is expected to serve the same functions as before, providing facilities for the caretaker, a buffet, a massage room, and offices. The intention was reported by Pardubice's MF Dnes.
"The entire area is located near the castle in a heritage zone, and any construction plans are problematic," said Beneš. Ultimately, he added, they managed to meet the requirements of the heritage conservationists and the rules of the zoning plan.
The tennis players would like to implement the project within four years when the Pardubice Junior takes place and celebrating its hundredth anniversary. However, the costs are high, and they cannot manage it alone, so they are seeking support from the Pardubice Region and Pardubice city and also plan to apply for a grant from the National Sports Agency.
"Just the preparation of the project documentation cost half a million crowns. We estimate that we will contribute one million crowns from our own resources. We would also like to obtain a financial loan from the city of Pardubice, which is provided to sports clubs," said Beneš.
The club has existed since 1922, initially renting courts at Na Olšinkách, and since 1924 has had courts built near the castle.
