Teplice - Teplice will decide on the construction of an outdoor swimming pool in the second half of this year. The costs amount to 445 million crowns. The city council wants to first assess the impacts of the consolidation package on the city budget, and based on that, the representatives will make a decision. The municipality also wants to potentially look for suitable grants. The city has been without an outdoor swimming pool since the 1990s, and a building permit for the project is already in place. The city council will now invest in the aqua center, where a new thermal water connection will be established. City officials informed reporters about this today.

The construction of a swimming pool in Nová Ves under the water reservoir on city-owned land is fully prepared. The swimming pool is designed as a cascade on sloped terrain. The highest level will feature a paddling pool, below it a swimming pool with a diving board, and at the lowest level a recreational pool with a slide. Each level of the cascade will include restroom facilities and food service, while the lowest level will have a beach volleyball court. A park for various activities is planned to be created around the area. The water reservoir, which has never been filled with water, is intended by the city to be used as an observation tower.

A new thermal water connection to the aqua center will now be built, as the current one is losing a large amount of thermal water. Builders will also create new reservoirs for this water, which the swimming complex draws from the same spring as the spa. "We have been limited in the use of thermal water so far; we could not draw it during the times when the spa does," said Deputy Mayor Hynek Hanza (ODS). The costs are approximately 50 million crowns. According to Hanza, thermal water is also present in the pools of the aqua center, just as it is in the spa.

In the next phase, the city plans to transform the space in front of the entrance to the swimming complex. The aim is, among other things, to increase the number of parking spaces. During the reconstruction of the connection and the construction of reservoirs for thermal water, the operation of the aqua center will be limited.
