Teplice - Teplice wants to know by the end of the year how much the new swimming pool will cost. The cost estimate will come from the project documentation currently being prepared by a team of experts. If the costs do not exceed the city's budget, the city hall will select a contractor next year. This was stated today by Mayor Hynek Hanza (ODS) to reporters. The residents have been waiting for the outdoor swimming pool since the 1990s.

The company Sial will incorporate suggestions from the working group that dealt with the swimming pool under the water tower in Nová Ves into the project documentation. The land for the recreational area is owned by the city. The swimming pool is designed as a cascade on a sloping terrain. The highest level will have a wading pool, below it a swimming pool with a diving board, and at the lowest level, a recreational pool with a waterslide. The city will pay approximately 20 million crowns for the documentation.

In the medium-term budget, the city hall is considering an amount of around 350 million crowns for the swimming pool, according to the mayor. The city will seek suitable funding sources but is prepared to finance the construction itself. Each level of the cascade will include social facilities and food service, with the lowest level featuring a beach volleyball court. A park for various activities is planned around the area. The water tower, which has never been filled with water, is intended to be used as a lookout tower by the city.

The capacity of the water cascade is calculated at 800 people per hour. The swimming pool is designed as a classic, 50 meters long with six racing lanes and a seven-meter diving tower, below which the depth will be 4.5 meters. The relaxation pool is to be heated with solar panels.

Teplice has been lacking a swimming pool for years. In 2016, a search began for a location for a new one. Seven locations were identified, but ultimately, the council rejected the option of returning the pool to the castle garden, where private individuals own the land. Experts then evaluated two options, among which Nová Ves emerged as the better choice.
