<div>Somewhat instructive building - film premiere</div>

Last year marked exactly 10 years since the largest Czech faculty of architecture, after years of effort, acquired its own building. The striking structure, designed by the legendary Alena Šrámková, sparked many controversies. How it fared during the first decade is shown in the new film "A Slightly Educational House," featuring personalities from contemporary architecture such as Ladislav Lábus, Miroslav Šik, Tomáš Hradečný, and Vojtěch Sosna. The premiere of the film will take place on January 17, 2022, at 6:00 PM directly in the building of the Faculty of Architecture of CTU in Dejvice.
In 2004, a major architectural competition was held, which garnered nationwide attention. Its task was to find the future shape of the new headquarters of the Faculty of Architecture CTU in Prague. The competition attracted the top talent from the domestic architectural scene, pitting young progressive creators against established figures.
Although the jury did not award the first prize, the proposal by Professor Alena Šrámková, one of the most prominent architects in Czech architecture over the past half-century, eventually came to fruition. Immediately after the announcement of the results, a wave of conflicting and critical opinions emerged regarding both the competition's course and the winning project.
Ten years after the opening of this building, which quickly gained an important position in the development of Czech post-revolutionary architecture, the creators of the new film "A Slightly Educational House" seized the opportunity to take a look at this structure from a necessary distance and perspective. Various perspectives on the matter are offered by the film's participants, who guide the viewer through the building while sharing their opinions and experiences related to it.
“We wanted to ask ourselves what it is like to experience the faculty building firsthand. We were interested in how its users from various generations and professions perceive it after more than 10 years. We selected 6 main characters who are certain archetypes of those who visit the building daily. The characters guide us through the house, allowing the viewer to experience the architecture and form their own opinion,” explains director Jiří Kout.
The film was created in collaboration with the EARCH.cz online architecture magazine team and the Faculty of Architecture CTU in Prague. The film premiere will take place on January 17, 2022, at 6:00 PM, directly on the faculty premises in Dejvice, in the Kotěra hall (registration for the premiere is free here).
