Hevlín (Znojmo Region) - In the future, an area with an outlet center, a hotel, and an entertainment center could be established on more than six hectares near Hevlín in the Znojmo region. Investor Nezar Abbas from Podolí near Brno wants to build it directly at the border with Austria near the former border crossing towards Laa an der Thaya, as stated in the announcement on the EIA Information Portal.

Currently, most of the land planned for construction is agricultural land. The zoning plan of Hevlín, a municipality with 1,400 residents, designates the area for civic amenities and allows for small and medium commercial facilities. The buildings themselves are planned to be on a plot of 15,000 square meters, with 500 parking spaces to be created.

According to the plans, construction could start in two years and open in 2020. However, this is just an estimate provided in the environmental impact assessment documentation. Typically, construction starts later.

Architects have proposed buildings to be a maximum of three stories high. The complex is to include an outlet center, meaning fashion stores, approximately 50 of which are to average around 145 square meters each. Additionally, there will be a hotel with 60 rooms and 80 beds, a wellness center, a gaming center for adults and children, a cinema, restaurants, and cafes. "It is expected that 1,000 to 2,000 people will arrive here daily, and up to 4,000 on weekends," the document states. Up to 250 people could find work here.

The nearest outlet center is not far away, located on a significantly busier traffic route from Prague to Vienna in Hatě near Znojmo. The distance between the two centers would be just under 40 kilometers. Znojmo is the only larger city in the vicinity within 40 kilometers. Just across the border from Hevlín lies the Austrian town of Laa with 6,000 residents.
