Uherské Hradiště - In the spring of next year, the first building of the future authentic Slovácko village will likely be installed on the edge of the Rochus park in Uherské Hradiště. Mayor Květoslav Tichavský (ODS) informed journalists about this today. It will be a barn from the village of Břestek, a valuable testament to folk architecture, which the staff of the Slovácko Museum disassembled and stored in a warehouse in Staré Město back in April this year.

The open-air museum will comprise up to a hundred buildings, but its construction is a matter of several decades. The costs of modifying the entire park are estimated to reach up to half a billion crowns, a substantial part of which will be accounted for by the open-air museum. According to Tichavský, there will often be replicas of buildings since the clay walls of the houses can no longer be relocated. Architects are therefore currently attempting to carefully survey and map numerous buildings for future reproduction.
"We have identified dozens of buildings, but many of them are gradually falling apart. We are trying to save primarily shutters, doors, and furnishings from the houses, so we have items that will give the house the stamp of that time. We want the open-air museum to showcase the development of construction in Slovácko. I believe we will succeed and that all the houses won't fall down before then," noted Tichavský.
In addition to the buildings, care for the entire area will continue next year. "Just mowing will cost hundreds of thousands. We want to utilize an even larger flock of sheep and also start working on concrete projects. There should be an orchard of local varieties, and we are also preparing a ray planting of alleys, which is a key element of the entire project. We are also preparing a botanical garden where typical plants of Slovácko should be transferred," added the mayor.
The former military training ground has been gradually transforming into a cultural and recreational zone since last autumn. Due to the presence of rare plants, the area is included in the Natura 2000 network. There are plans to plant alleys of various trees and plants, as well as fruit orchards; educational trails and recreational and sports areas will be created in the park. An ecological farm is also being considered.
The exhibition of the authentic Slovácko village will be complemented by a meadow and orchard area and a demonstration vineyard. The open-air museum will also serve as a presentation of traditional crafts, customs, and traditions, focusing primarily on viticulture and winemaking, which has deep roots in Slovácko. The museum will also be a venue for folklore programs.
