Blansko - In about a month, the reconstruction of the bus station in Blansko will begin, costing approximately 66 million crowns. The main investor is the owner of the site, the company ČAD Blansko. It should be completed by the end of 2018, said Jiří Šebela, director of the investment company, to ČTK today. Everything is expected to be managed while the station is in operation.
Around 200 buses pass through the station daily. The company will conclude the tender for the construction contractor by the end of September, who should be known shortly thereafter. Handing over of the construction is anticipated in mid-October. By the end of the year, the administrative and ticketing building from the 1950s should be demolished.
The new terminal will have a covered area for passenger check-in with sixteen separate departure stands, four of which will be for city public transport buses. It will also include an area designated for parking buses and a station building that will provide facilities for passengers and employees. "The reconstruction will minimally affect passengers for now; everything is being prepared so it should take place while in operation," the director stated. The company has already moved the information and ticket sales office from the station to its administrative building opposite the nearby train station. Starting October 15, the city public transport bus stand should also be relocated in front of the train station. The reconstruction itself is planned to be divided into phases, so that the bus stands will gradually be moved around the area.
The company will draw a subsidy from European funds for the reconstruction, amounting to about 42.5 million crowns. The carrier states that the new terminal should become an honorable gateway to the protected landscape area and to the city of Blansko itself.
