Brno - A modern judicial palace is expected to be built in Brno within two years for approximately 1.5 billion crowns, which will become the seat of the Brno City Court, the Brno-Country District Court, and the Public Prosecutor's Office. The complex, consisting of two buildings, will be located on the banks of the Svratka River on Heršpická Street. Today, the foundation stone of the building was laid. The current historical judicial palace on Roosevelt Street will be the seat of the Brno Regional Court.

"We have needed an investment in this project for many years," said Jaromír Pořízek, the chairman of the regional court, to ČTK. He reminded that the regional, city, and district courts are located in cramped conditions.
The current judicial palace has a small capacity. Some departments of the courts are situated in the city center in expensive rented premises. There are issues with a lack of courtrooms, which can then manifest in the undue length of some court proceedings.
These problems should be resolved by the modern judicial palace. Its side facing the city center will be glass, and it should reflect the Špilberk Castle. A relaxation zone will be created on the bank of the Svratka, which Brno residents will also be able to use for walks.
"The eight-story building will have 60 courtrooms and 42 consultation rooms," the chairman stated. He added that a parking lot for one hundred cars will be created for the public. The new building should be opened at the time when the old judicial palace will celebrate 100 years since its establishment.
