Brno - The Brno Regional Court recently ruled that the companies Centroprojekt and VPÚ Deco Praha must pay the creators of the basic study for the new justice palace in Brno 14 million crowns. The case involved fees for the architects who created the initial study of the modern complex. From this, the actual construction project was developed, which was completed some time ago and cost nearly two billion crowns. The architects were not paid for their study, so they turned to the court. The court fully upheld the requests of the spiritual fathers of the new justice palace, said architect representative Jaroslav Brož to ČTK today. The tender for the construction of the justice palace in Brno provided its participants with the basic conceptual study that they were to follow. It was created by Project building in collaboration with the architectural office Burian-Křivinka. The winner of the tender was obligated to financially settle with the architects for their basic study as well. However, they did not receive the requested fee. They were paid 58,000 CZK for consultations. According to court expert Jan Sapák, the study is valued at about eight million crowns. As all negotiations regarding the payment of the fee were futile, the architects turned to the regional court. The court fully agreed with them and awarded them 14.3 million crowns. The amount is higher than the estimated eight million crowns. The difference is the financial satisfaction awarded by the court, explained Brož. The new Brno justice palace is the largest investment by the Ministry of Justice in the modern history of the republic. The palace houses the Brno City Court, the Brno-Country District Court, as well as the Brno City Public Prosecutor's Office and the Public Prosecutor's Office for Brno-Country. There have been disputes regarding the costs incurred due to the complex. According to the Supreme Audit Office, the project unnecessarily increased in costs.
