Černošice (near Prague) - A new sports hall will be opened in Černošice near Prague next March, which will be primarily used by schoolchildren. The costs for the construction and adjustment of the outdoor areas amount to around 50 million crowns, with contributions from people and companies in a public collection. This was stated by the mayor Filip Kořínek (Černošické Matters).
"It will mainly help the school, that is the main future user. Our school, although it is the largest in the district, has no gym. There is only a small hall with an area of about 100 m², which cannot be considered a gym," said the mayor.
Schoolchildren should have access to the hall from 08:00 to around 15:00, after which it will be used by extracurricular clubs and sports teams, such as floorball, basketball, volleyball, table tennis players, and karate practitioners. Currently, athletes have to meet in inadequate facilities or travel to other towns.
The majority of the funds for the building, which has already completed its rough construction, were obtained by the city from the Ministry of Finance. Part of the costs are covered from the city’s own budget, and about ten million crowns are to be raised in a public collection. According to the mayor, this amount has nearly been collected.
Other Central Bohemian towns are also building sports halls. For example, a new sports hall was opened this year near the 5th elementary school in Mladá Boleslav for 30 million crowns.
