Jablonec nad Nisou

Jablonec nad Nisou - In Jablonec nad Nisou, they are looking for a city architect. The city hall has announced a selection procedure. The city should be assisted starting in April with the preparation of conceptual documents, the cultivation of public spaces, and communication with investors. This was reported today by the spokesperson of the city hall, Jana Hajná, in a press release to ČTK. All parties of the ruling coalition led by ANO agreed on the need for a city architect.

Semily has had its own city architect for many years, and last year, they began collaborating with one in Česká Lípa. In neighboring Liberec, the city hall even has a seven-member Council of Architects.

"The long-term absence of a professional creative perspective on the urban and architectural development of Jablonec personally brought me to the city's leadership. I hope that the selected candidate will gain trust and respect across political parties," said Jakub Chuchlík (Pirates), the deputy mayor for development. To ensure the city architect's work is flexible, the city opted for external collaboration with an expected scope of 600 hours per year.

"The main tasks of the city architect are professional consultations, preparation of investment project briefs, and proposals for minor adjustments in public spaces," added Chuchlík. According to him, the city architect will collaborate on updating and creating development documents as well as on preparing and administering architectural competitions. His work will also involve participation in meetings with citizens, investors, and builders, as well as education in the field of architecture and urbanism.

The selection process will consist of two rounds. "The first round will be correspondence-based, where the applicant sends information about their past work, experience, and references. Those who advance to the second round will then appear before the evaluation committee," said the deputy mayor. According to him, in the committee, apart from representatives of the city leadership, there will also be the city architect of Kolín, David Mateásko, and Jablonec native, journalist focusing on architecture, Karolína Jirkalová. Applicants can submit their offers until February 20; detailed information can be found by interested parties on the city's website www.mestojablonec.cz.
