Uherské Hradiště - Demolition of three buildings will begin in the coming days at the hospital in Uherské Hradiště. A central pavilion will be built in their place, which will concentrate primarily on surgical specialties and fields focused on diagnostics. The investment will require 650 to 700 million crowns. The hospital spokesman Ludvík Valouch said this to ČTK today.

"The handover of the construction site to the company that will carry out the demolition will take place on Wednesday. The actual demolition work should start during this week, or at the latest the following week,” noted Valouch.
The buildings to be demolished include the former obstetrics and gynecology department, which has moved to a new pavilion, the building of the central X-ray unit, which is currently operating in the lung pavilion, and the building of the exchange station of the former central X-ray unit.
The hospital expects that the investment, which is also financially supported by the Zlín Region, will improve the quality of care and reduce operational costs. "Above all, there will be an optimization of the time for diagnostics and examinations, and a simplification of the movement of patients and doctors,” the spokesman clarified. Thanks to the central pavilion, investment costs in the current buildings will be reduced, and savings will be increased, especially in connection with the newly built engineering networks. The project also plans to construct new roads and increase the number of parking spaces. "The area will be overall more comprehensible for patients,” he added.
Regional councilor for health Hana Příleská (ČSSD) previously told ČTK that the demolition is expected to last no longer than 12 weeks, after which work on the construction of the pavilion will begin. The costs of demolition work, engineering networks, communications, and landscaping are covered by the regional government. The payment of costs related to the construction of the central pavilion, including the construction of a connecting corridor between the central building and the lung pavilion, will be the responsibility of the hospital.
The new building will primarily house surgical specialties and fields focused on diagnostics. In the upper floors, there will be internal and surgical intensive care units, anesthesiology-resuscitation beds, central operating rooms with central sterilization, surgical bed units, and technical support. Publicly accessible areas will be complemented by a pharmacy.
The study indicates that the construction of the central pavilion will reduce the entire hospital complex by approximately half. The released eastern part is to be sold for other uses. This change would also open the possibility of direct connection from the Uherské Hradiště district of Štěpnice to the I/50 communication route.
