In the Zlín department store built during the Baťa era, there will now be a hotel and spa center

Zlín - The top floors of the Zlín Department Store, which was built during the Baťa era, will undergo transformation. On the eighth to tenth floors, there will be a hotel and a spa center, which will also utilize the currently unoccupied spaces in the glass extension on the tenth floor. The hotel and spa center will open in a trial operation at the turn of May and June. Michal Vala, the marketing director of HP Tronic, which will operate the hotel, announced this today. The company did not disclose the amount of investment.

HP Tronic also operates hotels and a ski resort in Velké Karlovice in the Vsetín region. In the Zlín Department Store, there is also its Bistrotéka Valachy, and several floors contain office spaces. The department store in the center of Zlín was built in 1931. In 2018, its reconstruction was completed, which returned the building to its original appearance.

"This is a unique space that underwent a sensitive reconstruction in 2018 to preserve the genius loci of Baťa architecture. Even then, we had the idea to build an exceptional hotel with a modern spa on its highest floors. However, the coronavirus pandemic and rising energy prices caused several unwanted delays, and the trial operation is expected to begin this year at the turn of May and June, possibly coinciding with the children's film festival," stated the future head of the hotel, Martin Pařízek.

The four-star Hotel Prior & Energy Spa is being created on the eighth to tenth floors of the department store. The hotel will offer 29 rooms for up to 66 guests. The spa will be located on the ninth and tenth floors over an area of more than 1500 square meters. It will feature a Finnish sauna, an infrared cabin, a sanarium, a steam sauna with peeling foam, a pool with hydromassage, a cooling pool, a snow shower, a Kneipp path, a relaxation room with a fireplace and water beds, as well as an outdoor relaxation terrace.

"Our goal is to bring a high standard to Zlín that we believe is currently missing – truly quality accommodation connected with an extensive urban spa and top-notch services. We want to attract guests who come to discover the beauties of Zlín, as well as business clientele," said Pařízek.
