Brno - In the vicinity of the industrial zone at the Brno Černovická terrace, a new technology center called Švédské šance will be constructed within five years. The company Areál Slatina plans to build it on the site of old assembly halls for approximately 1.4 billion crowns. Up to 2000 people could find work in research and development for small industry here, said the company's investment director Petr Hladík to ČTK today.

On a five-hectare area, six technology-administrative buildings are to be built in the coming years. The company plans to construct the first three buildings along with an underground parking lot for about 1200 cars between 2010 and 2012, while the second stage is expected to finish in 2015, as found out by ČTK from the investor's proposal submitted to the authorities this week.
The investor does not yet know who will operate in the complex. "We have not yet signed any lease agreements; we are still in the process of obtaining the zoning decision. The area could become a base for companies with high added value, we call it production for the 21st century. There is no space for foundries, but rather for software development or research activities in engineering," said Hladík.
The four- to six-story buildings will have a floor plan in the shape of the letter H, will be interconnected, and there will be a large underground parking lot hidden in two basement levels. Initial work on the construction of the technological complex is expected to begin in the second half of next year. "The current economic recession does not threaten the project for now. Every crisis ends eventually, and we must have the necessary documentation ready by then," added Hladík.
The original foundry Roučka from the 1920s began to transform into a multifunctional industrial complex after the revolution. It now has 25,000 square meters of storage space, 15,000 square meters of production space, and 13,500 square meters of office space. About 80 companies operate there, including computer companies Chicony and BGS Levi.
