Vratislavice nad Nisou (Liberec) - The construction of a kindergarten for 50 children is being prepared in Vratislavice nad Nisou. Including tax, the price should not exceed 30 million crowns. The only municipal district of Liberec will open the kindergarten this year after the summer holidays. Ideally, it will be from September 1, said the mayor of Vratislavice, Lukáš Pohanka (Mayors for the Liberec Region).
The municipal district has already announced the contract for the construction of the kindergarten in Nová Ruda, and the submitted bids are now being evaluated. Construction is expected to start in the spring, with the work lasting five months.
Vratislavice, with more than 8000 inhabitants, urgently needs a new kindergarten. It will help them solve the problem of insufficient places not only in kindergartens but also in the primary school. Currently, there is one preschool class in the school for 25 children. "We have to relocate them elsewhere to ensure places for the students who will start at the Vratislavice primary school on September 1," the mayor stated. According to him, they need to increase the school's capacity because in recent years there have been fewer children leaving the ninth grade than those starting in the first grade. "From the 2018/2019 school year, the number of outgoing and incoming children should balance," the mayor added.
The city hall also expects improvement in meeting the demand for places in kindergartens. "In recent years, we had a surplus of 25 to 30 children," Pohanka noted. The current capacity of the two kindergartens in the municipal district is 280 children.
Vratislavice will try to obtain European funding for the construction of the kindergarten. They are waiting for the announcement of the subsidy program. If their application is unsuccessful, they will cover the cost of the new kindergarten from their budget. The kindergarten will be built based on the project of Liberec architect Petr Stolín. The city hall considers the design to be unique. The building will have minimal walls and doors that would restrict the children, and the entire space will be open. Inside the building, there will be views, openings, walkways, or transitions. The idea is for children to spend most of their time outside or in a spacious atrium with greenery.
