Vsetín - The city of Vsetín has purchased a set of buildings and land in the Na Lapači area. It paid 12 million crowns to the Zbrojovka Vsetín sports unit for them. According to the city leadership, this is a strategic investment that should enable the construction of a comprehensive sports zone in this part of the city in the future. This was stated by the city hall spokesman Marek Mikuš.

"We want to create a comprehensive sports zone in Na Lapači, and we need the former table tennis hall, the gym facility, and the current chess hall for this project," said Mayor Jiří Růžička (KDU-ČSL). The surrounding land is already owned by the city.

The city also purchased the building of the former motel, which is adjacent to the nearby sports hall. In the future, the city hall wants to connect this building and the hall, as well as create a refreshment area and accommodation not only for the hall users but for the entire sports zone in Na Lapači.

The city spokesman stated that the priority for the future will be the reconstruction of the former table tennis hall into a gym, as this type of space is lacking in Vsetín. "If there is an opportunity to obtain a grant, this reconstruction would be the first in line. The gym is also planned for the future in Na Lapači," Mikuš said.

The sports unit wants to use part of the money gained from the sale to renovate the bowling alley at Ohrada. The chess players and the management of the unit should also find facilities there.
