During the celebrations of the 110th anniversary of the Praga automotive company in the Vysočany ArtDistrict Pragovka, the guests present were introduced to the new development plans for the area of the former Praga factory. Thanks to foreign investors, new life is once again moving into the original buildings. The first building to be affected by this transformation is the structure labeled "E," which now houses several dozen studios, galleries, and workshops. Nearly a hundred artists and creators from various fields work here. Thus, it is the largest artistic area in Prague.
The complex is a venue for various cultural and social events and also serves as studios for film and television productions.
On the occasion of the celebrations, the Mayor of Prague, Adriana Krnáčová, and the mayor of the Prague 9 district, Mr. Jan Jarolím, recognized a significant milestone in the history of the Praga automotive company and announced their intention to develop the former Praga complex. An automotive museum, Praga, will be established here, showcasing a unique collection of cars and items from the legendary automotive company, owned by Mr. Emil Příhoda. It was also announced that another building, V19, will serve as a Kunsthalle for the National Gallery.
The creative Vysočany project, featuring the new museum building and another city-wide cultural and artistic center, Hall 19 - Kunsthalle, was presented by the Czech delegation led by Mayor Adriana Krnáčová at the prestigious real estate fair MIPIM in Cannes, France. The city of Prague has been a traditional exhibitor here. The key theme of the March fair was transformation areas and opportunities for connections with private investors, enabling these places to become full-fledged and modern urban locations. One of the inspirations for the creative district of the new Pragovka was Paris's La Défense, where the establishment of several stand-alone structures was considered to breathe new life into the entire area, followed by gradual investments and further development.
The ambitious project of the new Pragovka is set to become the new heart of Vysočany. The design was created by the architectural studio jakub cigler architekti, which, according to foreign investors, most closely aligns with the vision of perfectly capturing the potential of the area and applying the current trend of modern urban development with quality public spaces connected to reconstructed industrial monuments. Utilizing areas within city limits is more ecological and economical considering the expansion of the city into the countryside or the connection to the necessary infrastructure. The architectural studio offered a creative approach that encompasses social, ecological, and economic aspects of urban space construction. Both cultural initiatives will increase interest in this area and will also reflect in the quality of life for the residents of Vysočany.
