Architect in Practice 2017: Ondřej Císler

As part of the lecture series 'Architect in Practice' intended for second-year MSP students, a lecture by Ondřej Císler will take place on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 5:00 PM in room A211/212 at the Faculty of Architecture, Brno University of Technology, Poříčí 5.

MgA. Ondřej Císler, Ph.D. (*1972 Lusaka, Zambia) studied at the Faculty of Architecture, CTU in Prague under Prof. Alena Šrámková and Prof. Jan Bočan (1998-2004) and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under Prof. Emil Přikryl (2000-04). Since 2011, he has been leading an independent studio at the Faculty of Architecture, CTU. In 2012, he defended his doctoral thesis on the topic of Concert Halls. He worked in the studios of Pavel Zveřina and Vlad Milunić. From 2005-09, he was a partner in the studio hnilička – císler – architects. Since 2010, he has been leading the independent architectural practice Aoc. He is a licensed member of the Czech Chamber of Architects 03548.

Atelier Aoc has completed projects with a total investment volume of approximately 140 million CZK and collaborated on further projects with a total volume exceeding 200 million CZK. We have worked on more than 50 projects of various sizes and typologies. We provide comprehensive architectural and engineering services in the fields of urban planning and architecture, from project preparation to execution, including architectural studies, urban planning and permit processes, detailed design projects, as well as author supervision during implementation and collaboration during building inspections. We specialize in luxury residential housing, civic, educational, and cultural buildings, public spaces, and interiors. Our favorite topics are bridges and footbridges. We are prepared to engage with any type of building; our approach is always individual, involving careful study of the issues and close collaboration with the client. A fundamental measure for us is the ideal of “beautiful construction” regardless of the size and nature of the investment. We consistently collaborate with a broad team of proven specialists – engineers, as well as artists and theorists of architecture.
