The lecture series on contemporary foreign creation will focus this spring on the Kingdom of Belgium, whose supernormal architecture unjustly lies in the shadow of its ambitious Dutch neighbor. Once a colonial power, it still benefits from its strategic location between England, Germany, and France, which has naturally resulted in it now being the main seat of the EU and NATO. The aim of the five lectures is to explain the continuity of Belgian architecture from the end of the 19th century to the present day. Following the Belgian Spring 2022 cycle, the Italian Autumn 2022 will follow in the next semester. The lectures by Petr Šmídek take place at the Brno FA VUT for all interested in contemporary architecture every even Tuesday in room A310 at 5:00 PM.
