3) The role of the city architect
What does social responsibility mean for an architect? What does the social engagement of an architect consist of and what forms does it take? What led to the creation of the city architect position and how does it differ from other architects? The discussion evening is open to both experts and the general public. There will be an opportunity for questions from the audience during the evening.
Our guests will be: Mr. Ing. arch. Miroslav Vodák and Mgr. Petr Borecký.
Ing. arch. Miroslav Vodák (*1979), graduate of the Faculty of Architecture of ČVUT.
He gained architectural practice at the studios A8000 Střítecký Krupauer and CGA Architects in New York. In addition to project practice focused on family houses, he, as a member of the CBArchitectura association, is engaged in promoting architecture of public buildings, public space, and organizing architectural competitions. This year he was nominated for the Architect of the Year 2018 award.
Mgr. Petr Borecký (*1972), graduate of the Law Faculty of Charles University.
After several years of work in advocacy, he worked in the private sector, initially in telecommunications and later in the field of renewable energy sources. He has been the mayor of Úvaly since 2014.
Join us to contemplate the boundaries of architects' responsibilities in our society, but also what space society itself provides them.
