The Republic of Senegal is located in West Africa. European colonization of this territory took place from the late Middle Ages, and in the 19th century, the country became a French colony. After gaining independence in 1960, it became one of the most politically stable African states. The lecture presents the architecture and urbanism of three significant historical settlements in Senegal – Dakar, Gorée, and St. Louis, from colonial beginnings to the present day.
