Within the seminar of the Friends of Fine Arts and Architecture Club, a lecture by Professor Jiří Kroupa on one of the most significant Central European Baroque architects, Domenico Martinelli, will take place on Tuesday, February 12, 2018, at 5:00 PM.
Domenico Martinelli (1650-1718) is one of the synonyms for Italian Baroque architecture north of the Alps. He is the architect of the Baroque New Castle located between Lanškroun and Rudoltice. He initially received education as a land surveyor and geometer from his father. After his ordination, which took place in his hometown Lucca in Tuscany, Martinelli's interest quickly turned to architecture, which he studied at the prestigious Roman Academy of San Luca, where he later served as one of the most notable and highly respected educators.
