In mid-August, it was officially announced that following the departure of Zaha Hadid from the Vienna University of Applied Arts, her position would be filled by Japanese architect Kazuyo Sejima. The new professor's lecture at die Angewandte will kick off the autumn lecture series IoA Sliver Lecture on Friday, October 2, 2015, at 7:00 PM at AIL on Franz Josefs Kai 3 in Vienna.

Kazuyo Sejima worked at the studio of Toyo Ito in the early 1980s after completing her studies at Japan Women's University. In 1987, she established her own practice. Since 1995, she has been leading the joint office SANAA in Tokyo with Ryue Nishizawa. In 2010, she was the curator of the 12th Architectural Biennale in Venice. That same year, she became only the second woman to receive the Pritzker Prize.
She has previous teaching experience from Japan Woman's University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Keio University, Harvard Design School, and ETH.
