On Thursday, November 2, 2017, at 7:30 PM, another lecture in the series "Another Perspective" will take place at CAMP (Center for Architecture and City Planning) Vyšehradská 51 in Prague, featuring the Portuguese studio Menos é Mais and its founder Cristina Guedes. The lecture will be complemented by Greek architect and thinker Aristide Antonas with Eleni Axioti. The evening with the architects will take place at CAMP, and both guests will focus on the issue of public space. The lecture will be in English without translation. Admission is free, but the capacity of the hall is limited. Reservations can be made here.
Architect Cristina Guedes will discuss the principle of design and pragmatic responses to specific contexts. She will present the work of her studio, which she co-founded with Francisco Vieira de Campos in 1994 in Porto. Since then, they have received numerous awards, including reaching the finals of the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2015 and the International RIBA Award in 2016. The studio often works on projects with insufficient financial resources, and therefore, they emphasize the wealth hidden in the emotional engagement of users of their buildings.
The work of Aristide Antonas navigates the boundary between philosophy, art, literature, and architecture. He has published several novels, plays, and essays. His artistic and architectural works have appeared at events such as Documenta 14, the Istanbul Design Biennial, the Venice Biennale, and in São Paulo. This Greek architect will come to Prague with his collaborator Eleni Axioti. In their lecture, poetically titled Protocols for Beds and Tables, they will attempt to answer the question of whether the space of the household defines a new area of the public sphere. Aristide Antonas represents contemporary experimental architecture.
