Theater 29 in collaboration with the Offcity project, o.s. Terra Madoda, the Tanec Praha festival, the Research Center for Industrial Heritage FA ČVUT in Prague, and other partners has prepared a site-specific festival titled Automatic Cultural Mills at the grounds of Automatic Mills designed by architect Josef Gočár. It was launched on Thursday, May 30, and will last until June 14, 2013. One of the main goals of this event is to open a dialogue about the potential content and use of Gočár's mills and their potential for the city. Lectures from the Offcity architects cycle situated in the spaces of Automatic Mills will present possible inspirations for the area from the perspective of an architect, architecture historian, and cultural manager.

Patrik Hoffman led the H.R.A. Architects studio together with architect Martin Rajniš, and since 2005 has had his own studio, Hoffman. This year he received the national architecture award - Grand Prix 2013 for the conversion of the Coal Mill in Libčice nad Vltavou. Architect Patrik Hoffman will not only present his mentioned winning project in his lecture, but he will also talk about the periphery in the center and the center in the periphery.

BENJAMIN FRÁGNER

Monday, June 10, 2013, at 5:00 PM in Automatic Mills / Mezi mosty Street, Pardubice

Benjamin Frágner, an architecture historian, focuses on the protection and transformation of industrial buildings. Since 2002, he has been the director of the Research Center for Industrial Heritage FA ČVUT.
In Automatic Mills, he will present general experiences related to the new use of industrial architecture with examples primarily from abroad.

ALEXANDRA BRABCOVÁ

Alexandra Brabcová studied at the Faculty of Arts and worked at the National Gallery in Prague, and since 2012 has been working as a manager on the team of Plzeň 2015.

"The buildings of the mills are among the most popular objects for conversions in industrial heritage and this is an even greater challenge for Pardubice.”

The lecture will guide us through various conversions of industrial sites in Europe and the USA - from apartments to new cultural institutions for the 21st century.
