The eighth PechaKucha Night will open the building of the Regional Police Headquarters in Plzeň to visitors. This will take place on Friday, February 21 at 20:20, when the public will have a unique opportunity to penetrate the interior of the building and at the same time be drawn into an evening full of inspiring ideas and interesting creative creators. One of the ten speakers will be, for example, Josef Pleskot, who is among the most respected architects in the Czech Republic, or well-known journalist, curator, and design theorist Adam Štěch, who co-founded the creative group OKOLO. “The very location of the event has aroused great interest among the public. Considering that the hall at the Regional Headquarters has a capacity limited to 250 seats, we chose to reserve tickets before the event on two February dates – February 10 and 13, each at 20:20 on www.pknp.cz. More information about the event can also be found by interested parties on the PechaKucha Night Plzeň Facebook page,” says Jitka Jirásková, organizer of PechaKucha Night in Plzeň. PechaKucha Night is an internationally popular event where several creators from various fields present their work, ideas, and projects to the general public in a 20x20 format (twenty seconds per each of twenty slides of the presentation). The entire evening is concluded with an afterparty, where people from different areas meet and where ideas and thoughts presented by speakers or directly from event attendees develop. This event is organized with the financial support of the European Capital of Culture by the civic association k světu., which aims to revitalize public space and connect people across the entire spectrum of their focus and activity. The association is behind the projects Containers to the World, Parking Day Plzeň, Edge of Architecture, and Scooter 24-hour race. The partner of the Plzeň PechaKucha Night is Plzeň 2015: “Presenting inspiring projects and authors brings new ideas and supports local talent. We are pleased that our partners also take to heart the motto ‘Pilsen, open up!’ and help us bring new stimuli to Plzeň,” evaluates the program director of the European Capital of Culture Jiří Sulženko.
