Prague - Autumn traditionally belongs not only to the start of the theater season and fashion and design shows but also to the presentation of architecture, its innovations, and reminders of architectural heritage. Architecture will take center stage on the last weekend of September when the Day of Architecture will take place in 45 Czech and Moravian towns. After last year's premiere, which was attended by more than 3,000 people, this year, there are over seventy events planned for September 29 and 30. Young architects and theorists will introduce participants to the architectural, landscape, and urban contexts of the given location. All walks are intergenerational, selected events are suitable for parents with children, some will cater to cyclists, and for the more demanding, there will be programs and all-day hikes focused on architecture. Most guided tours will last two hours, with some offering the chance to enter interiors. This year's Day of Architecture will also include walks in Slovak cities and excursions to Berlin. In Vienna, Austrian and Czech architects and artists will prepare tours and workshops for youth. The civic association Kruh will for the first time offer the Day of Architecture in the form of extraordinary educational workshops aimed at children and students from selected schools, led by instructors alongside architects. Several walks, for example in Klatovy, will be led by the young generation of main city architects. "We aim to present contemporary architecture while also highlighting controversial realizations or intentions. In several cities, communities of people are working long-term to cultivate their environment," says festival initiator Marcela Steinbachová. The program is available at www.denarchitektury.cz The sixth edition of the Architecture Week festival will last the entire month of October, with the theme of transportation structures, infrastructure, and spatial development. An exhibition of transportation and spatial development projects from 35 cities and regions of the Visegrád Group countries, as well as Bulgaria and Romania, will take place in the Queen Anne's Summer Palace, while additional transportation structures from around the world will be showcased in an exhibition at the Old Royal Palace. The festival program will also include other exhibitions, lectures by foreign architects, walks and rides focused on architecture, and open house days.
