We will take a look at several interesting interiors, learn what apartments looked like in the then-new residential buildings and who lived in them, explore several school buildings, get to know the works of influential Olomouc architects and builders (Gustav Meretta, Karel Starý Sr., and Franz Kottas), and ponder the tragic fate of the most daring developer of his time, Moritz Fischer. OLOMOUC - TREATMENT BY ARCHITECTURE
"The well-being of the sick be the highest command to everyone."
The history of the Olomouc, today's university hospital began to unfold as early as 1896. However, by the end of the 1930s, the hospital, where the very first corneal transplant was performed in the early 20th century, belonged to outdated and unsuitable health institutions. At the behest of the regional administration between 1940-1941, the Brno architect Bedřich Rozehnal prepared a study for a new Regional Hospital. From the project conceived in the spirit of Le Corbusier's aesthetics, only the economic building with a central boiler room (1946) was ultimately realized. An architectural walk through the grounds of the Olomouc university hospital with architecture historians Martina Mertová and Jakub Potůček.
