Lectures

Docent Imro Vaško from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava will be on Thursday, April 20, 2006 the next guest in the lecture series "Architecture Today," organized by the Museum of Art Olomouc. The curator, architect, and head of the architectural creation department will speak about contemporary Slovak experimental architecture.
The lecture series has been organized by the Museum of Art since the beginning of this year. So far, Rostislav Švácha from the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences and Petr Rezek from the Technical University in Liberec have presented. According to the art historian of MUO Jakub Potůček, the lectures have been accompanied by high attendance. "This is a pleasing fact that confirms the ever-growing interest in architecture, design, and the artistic qualities of the urban environment," said the organizer of the series.
The next guest of the Museum of Art will be Jindřich Vybíral from the Prague School of Applied Arts on Thursday, May 18. His lecture is titled "Architecture of Discipline and Mobilization" and will be dedicated to the interpretation of neoclassicism of the Stalinist era. The last lecturer of this school year will be Petr Kratochvíl (Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences). He will speak on June 12 about Czech architects who left the country and worked in exile.
The lectures take place every from 4:30 PM in the Assembly Hall of the Museum of Art.
